4 hours and 43 minutes!

At DrupalCon Atlanta we asked you, “If you use Tugboat, how many hours per week does it save you in reviewing work, code rework, managing staging infrastructure, or other process bottlenecks?” And for those Tugboat users, the average amount of time an individual saves per week is 4 hours and 43 minutes. That’s almost enough time to watch The Princess Bride 3 times in a row!

This density chart depicts the percentage of users and how much time they reported that Tugboat saved them weekly as a distribution. The dotted line provides the average (mean) time saved.

24% of you said it saved you 8 hours or more per week! That’s entire North American workday’s worth of time that some of you said you get back per week. Or, enough time to watch The Princess Bride 5 times, all from integrating Tugboat into your workflow.

We also broke this number down by your role and found that software developers reported that they save 4 hours and 25 minutes a week on average while product owners reported saving an average of 6 hours a week!

A little about you

131 DrupalCon attendees filled out our survey—perhaps out of the kindness of your heart, or your love of surveys or, perhaps, the potential to win a two-of-kind tub goat art piece by Atlanta’s R.Land (whatever your reason, we thank you!).

One thing we're interested in is knowing what people are using to review their work, so we asked you about it. Of the 131 people who filled out our survey, 41 of you use a previewing tool (like Tugboat), 71 of you use screen sharing in some form or another, and 81 are using a staging environment. A good portion of you are using a combination of these methods. *cough cough* — we, at Tugboat, use all three!

Each square here in these plots represents an individual who filled out our survey. The darker blue squares represents those who mentioned using a previewing tool during their review process. When displayed next to the lighter blue, the dark blue squares represent you who reported using a previewing tool in conjunction with another method.

We were also pleased to see the variety of industries that participated. We had folks from government and higher education to those who worked in design and marketing. And, of course, we had plenty of tech and software representation.
